Websites in Tigrinya and English for Eritrean businesses
For many Eritrean businesses, the website is read mostly by people outside the country: partners, visitors and Eritreans abroad. Groow designs websites and identities in Tigrinya, Arabic and English, and builds lightweight software, working remotely and within what payment rails and sanctions rules allow.
Where we focus
International-facing websites
Clear English websites for exporters, hotels, tour operators and service firms, so partners and visitors abroad can understand the business and get in touch with confidence.
Tigrinya and Arabic content
Tigrinya pages with clean Ge’ez typography and right-to-left Arabic pages, for local readers and for Eritreans abroad who prefer to read in their own language.
Very lightweight builds
Tiny page sizes, minimal scripts and printable documents so key information stays usable on the slow, fixed-line connections available in Asmara and other cities.
Brand identity
Logos, signage, menus, brochures and document templates that work in Ge’ez, Arabic and Latin scripts, designed to look consistent in print and on screen.
Enquiry and booking flows
Simple enquiry and booking requests by form, phone and email instead of online checkout, so visitors can plan ahead and your team confirms details directly.
Internal software
Records, stock and booking tools for schools, hotels and SMEs that run reliably on local networks and modest hardware, without depending on a constant internet link.
Who reads an Eritrean website
Internet access inside Eritrea is limited and mobile data is not generally available, so a website is often read from abroad: by trading partners, travellers planning a visit to Asmara, a UNESCO World Heritage site since 2017, or the Massawa coast, and by Eritreans living overseas. Its job is to make the business look established and easy to contact.
We plan sites for that audience: clear English pages for partners and visitors, Tigrinya and Arabic where they help, and contact routes such as phone and email that work reliably across borders.
Execution notes
Tigrinya uses the Ge’ez script, so we choose fonts that render cleanly on every device and layouts that accommodate it; Arabic pages are built right-to-left. Because local connections are slow and often limited to fixed lines, pages are kept very light, and key documents are offered as small, printable files.
The economy is largely cash-based in nakfa and international cards are not accepted, so we design for enquiries and bookings rather than online checkout. All work is remote, and how projects are paid is agreed upfront within what banks and international sanctions rules allow.
Local execution
Payments
A largely cash economy in nakfa (ERN) with no international card acceptance, so sites focus on enquiries and bookings, and project payments are agreed upfront.
Three working languages
Tigrinya, Arabic and English, with Ge’ez fonts tested across devices, right-to-left Arabic layouts and English pages for partners and international visitors.
Remote, within the rules
All work is remote, by email, phone and video calls when connections allow, and payments are arranged within what banks and international sanctions rules allow.

Questions, answered
Can you build a website in Tigrinya?
Yes. We design and build pages in Tigrinya with clean Ge’ez typography, alongside English and right-to-left Arabic versions where they help.
Will the website work on slow connections in Eritrea?
We keep pages very light, avoid heavy scripts and offer key documents as small printable files, so the essentials stay usable on slow connections.
How do payments to Groow work?
We agree a payment route before starting, in line with what banks and international sanctions rules allow. If no lawful route is available, we will say so plainly.
