Strategy
We help you decide what to build, who it is for and how it will win, before a single screen is designed. Research, positioning and a roadmap your team can act on.
Strategy that turns ambition into a plan
Good strategy is a set of decisions, not a slide deck. We work with founders and leadership teams to make those decisions with evidence, then connect them directly to what gets designed, built and marketed.
Digital strategy
A clear view of which channels, tools and touchpoints matter for your business, and in what order to invest in them.
Product strategy
Defining the problem, the user and the smallest valuable version of the product, so development effort goes where it counts.
Market and competitor research
Structured research into your category, competitors and pricing norms across the markets you want to serve.
Customer research
Interviews and observation with real customers to understand how they discover, compare, pay and decide.
Positioning and go-to-market
A sharp statement of who you serve and why you are different, plus a launch plan built around the channels your customers actually use.
Growth and conversion strategy
Finding where prospects drop off between first contact and purchase, and prioritising the fixes with the most commercial weight.

Why strategy comes before design and development
Most expensive mistakes in digital projects are made before anyone opens a design tool. A website built for the wrong audience, an app with features nobody asked for, a launch aimed at a channel customers do not use. Strategy is the work of catching those mistakes while they are still cheap to fix.
For us, strategy is not a separate engagement that ends with a document. It sets the brief for branding, product design, engineering and marketing, so every later decision can be traced back to a clear reason. When a trade-off appears mid-project, the strategy is what settles it.
That is also why we keep it practical. The output is a small number of decisions, written plainly: who the customer is, what problem you solve, how you will reach them, what to build first and how you will know it is working.
Researching markets across Africa and beyond
Customer behaviour varies a great deal between Lagos, Nairobi, Johannesburg, Casablanca and Dakar. How people search, which payment methods they trust, whether they expect to message on WhatsApp before buying, which languages they browse in. Assumptions imported from other markets rarely survive contact with real customers.
We combine desk research on your category and competitors with direct conversations with customers and prospects. Where you plan to operate in several countries, we look at what genuinely changes between them and what can stay consistent, so you avoid both a one-size-fits-all approach and needless duplication.
The result is a grounded picture of the opportunity, written for decision-makers rather than researchers, with clear implications for product, brand and go-to-market.
Digital transformation without the buzzwords
For established businesses, digital transformation usually means something specific: replacing spreadsheets and paper with systems, moving customer conversations online, or making data visible to the people who need it. We start by mapping how work actually happens today and where time, money or customers are being lost.
From there we recommend a sequence of changes that fits your team’s capacity, starting with the steps that remove the most friction. Some are quick wins; others need custom software or new processes. Each one is scoped so it can be delivered and measured on its own.
Our process
01Discovery and research
Workshops with your leadership and key staff, then market, competitor and customer research on the questions behind the biggest decisions.
02Strategy and roadmap
Findings distilled into clear insights we test with you, then positioning, priorities and a phased roadmap for brand, product and growth.
03Handover into delivery
The strategy becomes the brief for design, engineering and marketing, whether we deliver the work ourselves or your own team does.

Questions, answered
Do we need a strategy phase if we already know what we want to build?
Often a short one is still worthwhile. It tests your assumptions against real customers and competitors, sharpens the scope and usually saves more in development than it costs. If your thinking is already well evidenced, we keep it light.
How long does a strategy engagement take?
It depends on the scope of the questions, how many markets are involved and how much customer research is needed. A focused product or positioning sprint is much shorter than a multi-market digital transformation plan. We agree the scope and timeline together at the start.
What do we receive at the end?
A written strategy covering customers, positioning, priorities and a phased roadmap, plus the research that supports it. It is designed to be used as a working brief, not filed away.
Can you work with our internal team or other agencies?
Yes. Many clients use our strategy work to brief their own developers or marketing partners. We are happy to present findings to everyone involved and answer questions as delivery begins.
Do you research markets outside Africa?
Yes. Many of our clients sell internationally or serve diaspora customers. We research whichever markets matter to your business.
